He is the First and the Last, the Ascendant and the Intimate, and He is, of all things, Knowing.
(Surah Al Hadid, 57:3)

Allah is the first, there was nothing before Allah. Allah was the only One when there was no one. He was always there. All the created things came into existence after Allah willed to create them. Some of the great creations of Allah are His Throne, His angels, the skies, the earth, the sun, the moon, humans and more.

Muslims should always have Allah in the first place in their lives. For example, when we wake up in the morning, the First
One to think about or remember should be Allah. We should also be eager to worship Allah first and then do other things. There is nothing more important than Allah subhanu wa ta’aala.

There is a lot of goodness and blessings in starting our day with the words of Allah – Qur’an in the morning. Starting our day by remembering Allah and worshipping Him makes our entire day easy and happy!

When you hear the adhaan for As-salaah (prayer) how do you think you can show Allah Al Awwal that He is The First for you? Yes! By leaving everything that you were doing and praying the Salaah first.

Allah is Al Awwal, so He should be the First One whom we should try to please all the time. If Allah is pleased with us, then everyone – all the angels, your parents, your friends and everyone else will be pleased with you. We must not do something that will make Allah displeased with us just because we want to make someone else happy. A good Muslim wants to be the beloved of Allah at all times because He is the One Who created us, truly loves us, gives us all that we need and want, takes care of us and He is the One Whom we all will go back to.

Important Hadith to remember:

Rasool Allah (salallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “He who displeased Allah for seeking the pleasure of people, Allah is displeased with him and those people are also displeased, for pleasing whom he had earned Allah’s displeasure. And he who pleases Allah, although by it he displeased people, Allah is pleased with him, and also those people whom he had displeased for pleasing Allah become pleased with him. Allah makes him splendid and his speech and acts in the eyes of others beautiful.” [Tibrani]

Now that you have learnt the Name of Allah Al Awwal, let’s try to change our lives!

1. Memorize the Name Al Awwal with its meaning.

2. Memorize the du’aa to be recited after waking up from sleep in the morning. Saying this du’aa should be the first thing you do in the morning.

3. Start your day with Salatul Fajr and recitation of Quran.
