‘Seeds of Tawheed’ is an easy and authentic book on Tawheed for children which was once again written out of necessity. I was looking for a Tawheed book for kids to teach to my daughter’s friends in our weekly class. I found one Alhamdulillah, may Allah reward the family who prepared it, but as a student of Islamic studies I found it to be too basic. I teach my children Aqeedah (including Tawheed) through the Qur’an and discussions. So my daughter knew about Tawheed as a whole but not in an organised manner. Writing a book on Tawheed was always on my list. So I took this opportunity to write one. And I’m so grateful to Allah for guiding me to this as Alhamdulillah I have already received great feedback from mothers.
As Muslim parents, it is our responsibility and duty to teach our children about Tawheed and warn them against Shirk. Allah praised Luqmaan in the Quran when he advised his son against Shirk.
“And (remember) when Luqmaan said to his son, while advising him, ‘O my dear son! Never associate (anything) with Allah (in worship), for associating (others with Him) is truly the worst of all wrongs.” [Surah Luqmaan, 31:13]
As parents we do feel the importance of teaching Aqeedah but the thought of it can be daunting to some parents, especially if they do not have a background in Islamic studies. Even for those who do have Islamic knowledge and access to authentic books it is still not easy. A sister of mine, Allahumma barik lahaa, told me how she had a hard time teaching Tawheed to her 5 yr old son as she couldn’t find a book that was just right for the children. She sat down with the books ‘Kitaab at-Tawheed’ and `Fundamentals of Tawheed’ and had to break it down in order to make it understandable and digestible for her child.
Alhamdulillah, this book makes teaching Tawheed super easy for you. I’m confident that any mother inshaAllah can open this book and start teaching right away. It has everything inshaAllah that a Muslim child needs to know about Tawheed. It is not too simple and basic, yet not excessively detailed.
In this book you will find the explanation of the term Tawheed, what is Shirk and its consequences, modern day examples of Shirk, explanation of the three categories of Tawheed, explanation of Kalimat at-Tawheed, tafseer of Surat at-Tawheed (al Ikhlaas), quiz with answer key and the du’aa for protection against Shirk.
I pray to Allah that He enables and blesses all of us to sow the seeds of Tawheed into the pure hearts of our children so that it grows to be a good and firm tree.
Allah says, “Have you not considered how Allah presents an example, [making] a good word like a good tree, whose root is firmly fixed and its branches (high) in the sky? Producing its fruit all the time by the permission of its Lord. And Allah presents examples for the people that perhaps they will be reminded.” (Surah Ibrahim: 24-25)
[Majority of the scholars of Tafsir say that the ‘good word’ in this ayah means ‘Kalimat at-Tawheed’ (Laa ilaahah illa-Allah).]
